ABOUT THE ARTIST
Bronx-born artist Colin Goldberg’s work propels the trajectory of Expressionism into the 21st century. In 2011, he coined the term Techspressionism in 2011 to describe his technology-fueled paintings. In 2020, he initiated the formation of an artist group around the idea.
This group has grown into an thriving online community, currently comprised of artists working with technology from over 45 countries. Techspressionism has continued to spread through the use of the term as a hashtag, with over 85k Instagram posts currently using the hashtag #techpressionism. Helen Harrison, the longtime Director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center serves as the group’s advisor.
Goldberg, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant recipient, studied painting under the noted Abstract Expressionist painter Angelo Ippolito. His Techspressionist paintings have been featured in WIRED, The New York Times and on PBS. and reside in numerous private, public and corporate collections.
In the Summer of 2025, Goldberg was conferred an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degree by Five Towns College on Long Island for his work in the arts. Notable Five Towns College alumni include Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5, and Wyclef Jean, a founding member of the Fugees and also an honorary Doctorate Degree recipient from the College.
The artist’s first solo museum exhibition, Metagraphs: Augmented Reality Art, will open at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in June 2027.
PROJECTS
Interior Landscape: Chicago
Goldberg’s site-specific work “Interior Landscape” was one of four works in Four Techspressionist Artists, a group exhibition commissioned by 150 Media Stream, the largest public digital art installation in Chicago, and curated by Chicago-based video artist Yuge Zhou.
Kneeling Icon: Hearst Tower NYC
Goldberg’s 6×8-foot augmented-reality artwork, Kneeling Icon, was acquired by the Hearst Corporation in 2023 and is permanently installed in Hearst Tower on 57th Street in Manhattan. It is the first AR work in the Hearst Collection. Click here for more information.

Harrison, the longtime Director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton, New York, the former home and studio of artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner.
