As part of my ongoing website redesign project, I have been working on rewriting my artist bio, and was reminiscing about my time living in the East Village of NYC back in the mid 1990's. During this time, I was commissioned by Earth Day to create the series of digital photomontages pictured above. 

I have been reviewing my archives of historical materials, and came across a video interview I conducted with artist and theoretician Joseph Nechvatal in Manhattan in 2000. It was originally recorded for Everbeta, which was (at the time) an early streaming content network for the arts. The interview takes place during a walk between our studios in Manhattan's East Village and Lower East Side. It is raw footage with in-camera editing only, and is primarily a discussion on Viractualism, the topic of Nechvatal's Ph.D thesis.

I will be participating in an exhibition entitled "Hybrid" at Alex Ferrone Gallery in Cutchogue NY, opening this Saturday. Ferrone's gallery focuses on fine art photography and work incorporating photographic elements. The pieces of mine which were selected for this exhibition are all one-of-a-kind hand-painted pieces from a body of work which I call “Photoconstructs”.

In December of 2016, the work pictured above, a mixed-media piece on wood from the artist's Biomorphic series, was accepted into the permanent public collection of the Islip Art Museum in Islip, New York.

the end of my month-long residency at The Studios of Key West (TSKW); it has been an amazing experience, and I am glad to have had the honor to participate in this program

Super-excited to be leaving for my artist residency at The Studios of Key West (TSKW) in a few days! I will arrive on Monday evening, and have a solo show opening up at TSKW's Eaton Street location on Thursday, May 7 from 6-8 PM. The show will be a survey of work on paper, composed of works from 2006 to the present. A good number of the works were created in 2015 specifically for this exhibition.

The Remote Portraiture Project aims to explore the tradition of artistic portraiture framed within the context of today's technology. For this project, I will be creating portraits of individuals located all around the world using videoconferencing technology to capture their images from my studio computer. The finished pieces will be executed as hand-painted works combining traditional and digital media, based on still images captured via video calls between our locations.
