Begun in 2012, the Biomorphic series develops the digital drawing techniques of the Wireframe series into organic forms. Gestural lines become solid shapes, then contours, through a combination of manual and mathematical processes. These forms suggest plants, animals and imagined structures without depicting a single subject. Line work informed by Japanese woodcuts meets painted and printed surfaces. The Biomorphic series includes oil paintings, mixed-media panels and works on paper, as well as hand-drawn works made during Goldberg’s 2015 residency at The Studios of Key West.
